• Canal de Garonne / The green cycle path

The 194 km long Canal de Garonne was opened in 1856. It goes from Toulouse where it connects with the Canal du Midi, a World Heritage Site, to Castets-en-Dorthe, where it falls into the tidal river. The remainder of the route to Bordeaux uses the Garonne River. It links the Atlantique Ocean to the Mediterraneen Sea, hence its name The Two Seas Canal (Canal des Deux Mers).

    Moissac, le paradis des cyclistes

Its original purpose was to facilitate the transport of goods to the port of Bordeaux as the river Tarn could not be counted on throughout the year.

Nowadays, it is the "must do" cycle route of South-West France, called the Green Cycle Path. (La vélo voie verte)
